The project has involved the raising of a large, zoned rockfill embankment, and the installation of an exposed PVC geocomposite liner system. For this application, a GSS was adopted for reasons of embankment stability and shortage of alternative low permeability soils, and includes a number of innovations related to the GSS face anchorage. The design of the GSS is discussed, together with the installation methodology and the performance of the liner system during the first two years of operation.
