The ORM allows all of the configurations that the system will have over the life of the mine to be analysed simultaneously and with incomplete information. Designers of paste backfill systems have similar issues, which can be overcome using the ORM. However, the flow behaviour of paste is significantly different than sand slurry’s. This paper demonstrates how the ORM may be adapted for the design of paste backfill systems.
