The entire tailings stream reports to the paste plant for use as underground backfill or for paste tailings disposal. In 2009 a major effort was undertaken to ensure that the paste system was able to support ongoing mining operations and ensure the efficient operation of the paste tailings system. Being one of the first large modern mines in a developing country, training presents a constant area of concern and was identified as one of the major focus areas for both the paste plant operators and the engineering staff involved in supporting the paste operations. The training focused on better understanding the operating philosophy. Bulyanhulu provides a strong case study for this approach to training and has shown significant improvement as a result of this emphasis. %1 Perth %I Australian Centre for Geomechanics %U https://papers.acg.uwa.edu.au/p/1063_4_Weatherwax/ %R 10.36487/ACG_rep/1063_4_Weatherwax
