At peak production, Oyu Tolgoi is expected to produce 500,000 tonnes per annum of copper.  The Panel 2 (PC2) crusher is a key component of the OT underground ore handling system, which has a total capacity of 95 ktpd; the PC2 crusher processes 45 ktpd of this total. The PC2 crusher chamber is a large excavation located at a depth of 1,300 m, with a stand-off distance of 280 m from the Panel 2 footprint.
