(https://papers.acg.uwa.edu.au/p/2435_D-06/) Abstract: Numerical modelling in mining has advanced towards more complete and complex models in the last decade, incorporating large amounts of information that allow the detailed analysis of different problems of interest in the rock mechanics and the effects induced by mining. The current models allow the incorporation in detail of the historical and future information of a mining project, which is generated by different areas such as geology, planning, hydrology, geotechnics and geomechanics, to feed a model capable of representing the rock mass, and establish its future behavior, according to all the information available at the time of its creation. This document provides an overview of the current advances in numerical modeling implemented for mining projects, the information used, issues of interest, and the current future challenges in the area.
