Abstract: A major driver for improved planning in closure of Tailing Storage Facilities (TSFs) is that as result of 
centuries of mining, countless thousands of these particular legacies exist around the world. Rather than 
increase the number of these legacies and to arrest this problem, implementation of robust decommissioning 
programmes is required, and in the case of reprocessing or re-mining - the placement of the reworked 
materials in a safe, stable state is warranted.
