Computer codes are available to speed up the analysis and help relate seismicity with predetermined variables. The long-term goal would be to predict seismic events with sufficient confidence for input in short-term mine design, this remains however elusive. This paper presents a case study on the deepest Western Australian gold mine (Hill 50), where multiple methods were applied to unravel the seemingly random nature of periods of high seismic activity in the mine. Numerical modelling results were compared with outcomes and conclusions drawn on the applicability of different analysis methodologies.
