Abstract: The support of intersections, particularly in coal mines, remains an important issue in the USA and the most common area for unplanned falls of ground. In recent years, considerable progress has been made in reducing rock related accidents in coal mines and it remains an on-going research area. This paper reviews the current state-of-the-art and suggests areas that could be improved.
