Abstract:
Andes Norte is a Codelco structural project that will be mined using pre undercutting Caving with the application of hydraulic fracturing. It is located in the deepest area of El Teniente. In these environmental conditions the geometry of the drawbell is fundamental for the stability and the operational continuity at the production levels. The drawbell design was built from several stages: analysis of the vulnerabilities identified in the base case (engineering stage), review of the current drilling and blasting design parameters, drawbell scanner analysis, extraction mesh design (17x22), height of the Crown Pilar (25m), drifts overbreak and expected induced seismicity. Finally, the integrated design of the drawbell allows increasing the parameters related to the stability of the area: 10% more in the Crown Pilar, 50% enhancement of the distance between excavations of the drawbell, drift in the UCL and the face angle of the drawbell increased in 7 degrees.
